No longer a stranger
The whisper of my breath across your neck...
You turn, but no one is there.
You sleep with me once... We are still strangers.
My pure blood still fresh on the bed...
Do you dare to follow me and my throbbing pain?
Pain that grew when you did not give of yourself...
You yelled,
"What did I do?"
Your answer is a damaged whisper in the shadowed world of the deep corner behind your shoulder.
"No...MORE!"
Across a chasm you didn't even know was there.
You leap towards the corner...Too late! blackout...
A slight feel of fear and coldness, of weightlessness...
Endless dark...Physical pain, then a flash of light.
Tall buildings around you and killing stress...
Insanity you fight...
"Where the hell am I?"
as you look at blurred faces.
In a time portal? In the dark recesses of her mind?
You suddenly see a flash of autumn brown amongst the gray...
You know it's me...You know it's her...one in the same!
You run frantically towards the color.
But people, like the sea, are against you... stopping you.
I am far away...you can't catch her.
The people are parts of her soul...They scream as if on cue.
Suddenly you are free-falling through the dark again.
You are in a lush forest surrounded by black horses.
Among the darks a dingy white unicorn stands, innocent no longer...
With eyes like sugar cane.
You walk towards the one you hurt, with steps no one forces.
As you get closer, you see in those eyes a wealth of pain.
You stop in front of her naked, in body and soul.
You stand vulnerable, and you know the truth now, you say,
"I love you"
.
I stand frozen, suddenly you are on my back... so that is my toll!
You whisper, I love you, I love you, I love you...
in my searing ears.
Those soft, desperate, fear-filled words shatter my fragile peace.
I look in shock...your midnight eyes are brilliant with unshed tears.
Your hands melt into my equine body...
Through the shivering, damp skin and shaking, brittle bone...
To a place, I thought, no one could breach.
I am naked. And I am in your arms. We are on the bed.
For a moment I don't know you...but I stay anyway.
For I don't want to be alone...Then you give a deep sigh.
All your love in that breath...and I remember.
And I know what to say...
"I love you, and you are no longer a stranger."
